Welcome

Welcome

Since counseling and psychotherapy are such personal experiences, choosing a therapist is an important and sometimes intimidating process. With that in mind, I want to tell you what you can expect if you come to see me. I intend my office and presence to feel safe so that clients can feel as comfortable as possible. I have been a licensed psychologist since 1975, receiving my PhD from Northwestern University in 1973. I have maintained a practice of psychotherapy and counseling since that time. For much of this time I was also a clinical supervisor, teacher, consultant and administrator. I practiced in Washington, DC before coming to Portland in 1993 to direct a counseling center and do therapy. In 2005 I decided that I loved therapy more than administration and began the practice I continue today. I invite you to review my philosophy and values and my description of how I practice psychotherapy and counseling. I think you will find me to be well- educated, trained, and credentialed. I have varied and extensive experience. I balance care and thoughtfulness with creativity and enthusiasm. I am positive, optimistic, and hopeful. I invite you to have a session with me. If it feels helpful we can continue. If it does not feel like a good fit I can help you find someone else. If you have questions please email or call me.
