Psychotherapy and Counseling
If you come to me to explore possible therapy or counseling, our first task is for
me to get to know you, what your goals are and what resources you have to reach
those goals. We will move through an understanding of what you want to
change, your strengths and personal history to a plan of action. If the plan and
our relationship seems workable to you we will continue.
I work with a combination of strategic problem-solving and exploration of history
in order to meet your goals. We will review your assumptions, feelings, thoughts,
and behavior.
Our work together will be based on the therapy plan. We will work as quickly as
seems effective at a pace that seem thorough and safe. I believe in collaboration
in the work and we will pause frequently to review what is working best for you
so that we can do more of it.
I work with adults with a variety of problems: anxiety, depression, relationship
fears and difficulties, career issues, loss of sense of purpose and meaning. While
our goal is resolution of the dissatisfactions that bring you in, I am also interested
in your having your most fulfilling and satisfying life.
I believe strongly that we all have the resources to change what we want to
change. I believe in identifying and building on our strengths. I believe we
sometimes need to review and explore our personal history in order to release
the blocks to accessing our own possibilities. This all happens in successful
therapy.
